Step 5: Monitor and Eveluate the Execution of Your Game Plan
This is a very important step because it allows you to update your plan
with ease. This involves keeping a table-by-table record of your casino
play. For example, let's say you play at a blackjack table. What was
your bankroll going into the table? How long did you play? How much did
you win or lose? What was your betting unit? Carry a pocket notebook and
document these items immediately after playing each table! If your goal
is to become a winner, you must do this and you must make it a habit.
It only takes a few seconds after each table, but the payoffs are great.
Now you can evaluate your play in an unemotional, detached manner after
each session. You can determine how well you followed your plan and
what problems you encountered. And you can take corrective action! The
satisfaction you will derive from following this simple procedure will
amaze you. Do it!
Here is a summary of the items of information that should be documented
for each table you play. You can copy them directly to your pocket
notebook as column headings.
- Date
- Time of Day
- Casino Name
- Win or Loss
- Cumulative $ Win or Loss for this Session
- Play Duration
- Cumulative Play Duration for this Session
- Comments on this table such as: Mistakes Made, Distractions That Affected Your Play, or Departures from Your Plan
That's it. If you follow and use this guide to mental discipline, you
should increase your winnings, or at the very least, limit your losses.
